Railroads and Wine
There's a new Vineyard and Winery room in the area which is sure to
excite those who love wine and trains. It's El Pomar
Junction, located at 5036 South El Pomar Dr on the Templeton
Eastside. El Pomar Junction in purported to have the
largest tasting room in the Paso region.
Probably most interesting is the mini rail yard recreated at
the winery. Several retired box cars and a caboose
from the Southern Pacific Railroad showcase
railroading history.
El Pomar Junction is the public view of Mesa Vineyard
Management. Mesa is a large vineyard manager in
Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties.
Based in Templeton they have access to some of the best
grapes which El Pomar Junction will allow them to showcase. >> |

r For
those who are not aware, this is the second winery in
the area with a bit of railroad history. Sylvester
Winery on Buena Vista in Paso Robles has a very nice display
of vintage Pullman cars with a great Observation car
overlooking the vineyards.
For those not aware, during most of the heyday of railroad
travel in the US was on Pullman. Pullman owned the
rail cars and managed the passenger traffic. The
railroad companies provide the engines and tracks.

Food Corner:
(Personal recipes and Favorite Restaurants of the Paso Wine Country)
Egg Plant Parmesan: One or my favorite Italian dishes is Egg
Plant Parmesan. My method of preparation is much easier and a bit healthier
than traditional.

Eggplants, peeled and thinly
sliced lengthwise |
| 4 cups |
Hot Milk |
| 4 cups |
Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs |
| 1/4 tesp |
Salt |
| 6 cups |
Favorite Spaghetti Sauce |
| 16 oz pkg |
Mozzarella Cheese, grated |
| 1 cup |
Parmesan Cheese, Freshly Grated |
| 1 cup |
Raisins |
| 1/2 tsp |
Basil |

Preheat over
to 350 degrees. Dip Eggplant in Egg and coat in Bread
Crumbs. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and
bake for between 5 and 10 minutes on each side (Eggplant
should be tender and Bread Crumbs lightly browned)
Spread enough spaghetti sauce to lightly cover the bottom of
a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer the Eggplant,
Mozzarella and Parmesan repeating until all ingredients are
used up. Make sure cheese is the top layer.
Season the top with Basil and bake for 30 minutes, or
golden brown. Enjoy!

Style Living Real Estate:
(Real
Estate market conditions in Paso Wine Country)
Last month's newsletter focused on my upcoming predictions for the local
Real Estate market. This month has two focuses.
First, As indicated last month prices will stabilize
when foreclosures stabilize and the existing inventory of housing is
absorbed. I don't track the former, but the later is
dropping quickly. It may be due to the holidays, but
inventory levels locally are down close to 18% from last month and 30%
from a year ago. There's not a lot of inventory available in the
mid ranges currently. If foreclosures stabilize soon we may see a normal
market developing by summer.
Secondly, On the subject of foreclosures. If you
are having trouble making your mortgage payments, it is important
that you get qualified help. Be careful of scams, but also
don't rely entirely on your loan servicer. Yes, Loan Servicer.
We all must remember that the company we make our mortgage payments to
is our Loan Servicer and in almost all cases NOT the owner of our
Mortgage. Remember also that the Loan Servicer is paid to manage
your loan and most make additional money managing a foreclosure.
It may pay to contact a qualified Foreclosure Consultant that is
licensed. Don't ever trust anyone who is not licensed as a
Foreclosure Consultant. If you would like a referral to a
